Director of Strategic Development & Operations
Position Type: Part-Time (20 hours per month)
Compensation: $40 per hour
Reports To: Executive Committee
Position Overview
The Director of Strategic Development & Operations will serve as a strategic leader responsible for strengthening BELL's organizational infrastructure, enhancing financial sustainability, and supporting the Executive Committee in maximizing their impact. This role is ideal for a mission-driven professional who can work efficiently to implement systems, processes, and strategies that position BELL for long-term growth and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Organizational Development

Collaborate with the Executive Committee to develop and implement strategic plans that align with BELL's mission and vision

Identify opportunities for organizational growth, innovation, and increased community impact

Facilitate strategic planning sessions and retreats for leadership
Financial Sustainability & Resource Development

Develop and implement fundraising strategies to diversify revenue streams

Identify and pursue grant opportunities aligned with BELL's core pillars

Build relationships with potential funders, donors, and strategic partners

Create financial projections and sustainability models to guide decision-making
Operations & Infrastructure

Design and implement operational systems, policies, and procedures to increase organizational efficiency

Develop tools and frameworks to support Committee Chairs in executing their initiatives

Streamline communication and coordination between the Executive Committee and programmatic leads

Maintain organizational documentation and ensure compliance with nonprofit best practices
Board & Committee Support

Provide strategic counsel and operational support to the Executive Committee

Develop resources, templates, and training materials

Track committee progress and help identify solutions to operational challenges

Coordinate cross-committee initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational goals
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)

3-5 years of experience in nonprofit operations, strategic planning, or organizational development

Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, or resource development

Strong project management skills with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience working with boards and volunteers

Understanding of and commitment to racial equity and economic empowerment

Proficiency in project management tools, financial management software, and Google Suite
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in or with the Black community and understanding of systemic barriers to economic equity

Knowledge of Rock Hill or similar communities

Experience with small but growing nonprofit organizations

Background in business development, workforce development, or education sectors
Work Environment
This is a flexible, part-time remote position requiring approximately 20 hours per month. Some evening or weekend availability may be required for board meetings or strategic planning sessions. The role requires strong relationship management skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the Executive Committee.
