BELL XPrize Press Conference 6.7.19
On Friday, June 7, BELL held a press conference to announce the details of the BELL XPrize. This is a new initiative created by the Black Economic Leadership League (BELL), community leaders and business owners. It is a program is intended reestablish a strong, diverse African American small business community. It begins a journey toward equitable participation in the future growth and development of the City of Rock Hill. XPrize is competition for entrepreneurs interested in competing for capital that would allow them to start their own businesses.
Dawn Johnson, BELL’s chairperson along with other board and committee members were joined by Rock Hill Mayor John Gettys, Lee Gardner, former CEO of Family Trust Federal Credit Union, and Whitney Goodale from J.M. Cope Construction to inform the public of this exciting upcoming opportunity. J.M. Cope is the proud investing sponsor in the BELL XPrize. J.M. Cope along with BELL is excited to see the exponential impact this program will have on our community.
To qualify to compete for the capital, the individual must participate in rigorous boot camps this summer and then workshops this fall. From there, they will prepare their business plans and present to a panel of judges. White Street on Friday, June 14 at 5:00 PM.
